The SMMUSD Council of PTAs wishes to remind you that this year it is especially important for you to protect yourself and your family against the seasonal flu. The CDC has helpful information regarding seasonal flu on their website. You can click on these links for more information in English or Spanish.
The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get the annual flu vaccine by the end of October. However, getting vaccinated anytime during the flu season will benefit you. Again, please refer to their website for more information and ask your doctor any questions you may have.
JOGATHON – CARDIO WEEK!!
Thank you everyone for attending our assembly last Friday – it was so fun to see so many friendly faces, and to hear Will Rogers and Principal Bourke tell us about Jogathon!
This week for Jogathon is CARDIO WEEK! Students can do some kind of exercise to get their heart rates up (for example – running, walking, jumping jacks, at-home dance party), take a picture of themselves (holding the jogathon logo, if possible!), and email it to jogathon-photos@willrogerspta.
Please keep checking our Jogathon page: https://www.willrogerspta.com/
Support Our Community Food Program!
Will Rogers families that need a little extra support can sign up to receive backpacks full of food to take home on the weekends. A licensed nutritionist designs menus to ensure students receive a nutritious and balanced diet. This is a self funded program that relies on donations. Please consider donating to help support this program & spread the word!!
Will Rogers Learning Community believes that no child should go hungry or have food insecurities. That is why we have a biweekly food program for families in our community who could use a little extra help. If you wish your child(ren) to receive a bag of food every other week, please fill out this application. Contact Simona Orsolini at email@example.com if you have any questions!
Does your child like to draw, paint, dance, sing, write stories, take pictures, or make movies? The Reflections art contest is happening now, and your child can submit work in any or all of these categories! This year’s theme is “I Matter Because…” Pre-K-12th grade students are invited to create and submit original works of art in one or all of the categories (click here for details):
* visual arts
* dance choreography
* film production
* music composition
Student winners from the local level have the opportunity to move up through their district, region, council, and state PTA programs to the national level. Please visit the Will Rogers PTA website later this week for category guidelines and the online entry form. Submissions will be accepted through October 15. If you have any questions or need materials, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the Reflections website for more inspiration: https://www.pta.org/home/progr
